Reporting a Suspicious Email

Modified on Thu, 12 May 2022 at 07:59 AM

Please take time to be extra vigilant. Be careful of any email where:

  • the message is designed to make you worry and take urgent action
  • the links do not match who it is from and are misleading
  • there's a suspicious attachment
  • the email asks to confirm personal information
  • the email address doesn't match the sender displayed
  • the name in the email address is a trusted person but it is not the account they normally use.

Although our first instinct may be to delete suspicious emails, we recommend that you report them to our IT Services team. We will examine the email and, if necessary, advise you of any further steps you may need to take. After you report an email, a copy is provided to to the IT Services Team to review and then in turn is then provided to the National Cyber Security Centre and Microsoft to aid research in combating these campaigns.
