Teams FAQs and Troubleshooting

The recommended way to access Microsoft Teams is through the Microsoft Edge browser at https://teams.microsoft.com. If you are using Microsoft Edge, ensure that you are using the newest and most up-to-date version.


Internet Explorer does NOT work with Teams and some functionality will not work as expected if you are using it.

We do not recommend using the following:

- Teams Desktop App (Windows or Mac)

- Teams Mobile App (Android or iOS)

- Accessing teams through any other browser than Microsoft Edge. This includes but is not limited to Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.

One or more of my teams has disappeared

Check that you have not hidden your teams using the instructions here. If your team was not hidden please contact your teacher directly to ask them to re-add you to the team.


I can't see what the teacher is sharing

This often occurs when you join a teams meeting late. Ensure you are using Microsoft Edge to access teams, and then try logging out of teams and back in. If this does not work we are unable to assist as the issue lies with Microsoft in this case.


I keep joining the meeting and then getting kicked out

This is usually caused by a problematic internet connection. If this continues to happen check that your internet speed is reasonable using https://speedtest.net.. You should expect to see download speeds of at least 6Mbps and upload speeds of at least 3Mbps to have a reliable connection.


I am unable to see assignments

Ensure that you are using Microsoft Edge to access teams. Using the mobile apps often results in this issue. If you must use the apps please uninstall and re-install the app fully to rectify this issue.


I am unable to post in a channel (Posts Restricted)

This is set by the teacher to prevent abuse. If you have an issue with this please contact the teacher directly.


I can't join a meeting / lesson that has been set up

Ensure you are using Microsoft Edge to access teams. If you are, it is possible Microsoft is experiencing issues which could cause you to be unable to join, as this is not an uncommon occurrence. You may need to wait for a few hours and try again with another meeting.

I don't have the drop down menu to change to MITRE teams

Please make sure that you have accepted the invite that you were sent when first joining the MITRE teams. If you do not have this speak to one of your teachers and ask them to add you to the teams.  You will then need to accept the invite.


I don't have one of the teams I should have

Contact your teacher directly and ask them to add you to the team. If you still do not appear please ask them to double check that they have added the correct email address.


I can't access a Form through assignments

Due to an issue with Microsoft's setup for viewing Forms within Teams you will need to ask your teacher for a direct link to the Form, as you will not be able to access it directly through the assignments tab.
